Caitlin Starowicz – Writer, Producer, Co-Director

 

An award-winning writer, producer and director, Caitlin Starowicz works on projects at the creative forefront of content creation. After earning a BA and MA in Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto, she earned an MFA in Film Production from the University of Southern California.

She is the writer and director Polar Opposites, a documentary about pole dancing and third wave feminism, which was subsequently broadcast internationally on the Documentary Channel. She is also producer of City Walk, a 6-part television series broadcast on KCET and nationally on LinkTV and Hulu. Among her many credits as director and producer, her video for Funny or Die!: Behind the Scenes of The West Wing Reunion, has more than two million views online and features Allison Janney, Dulé Hill and Martin Sheen.

Her 2018 documentary, that she wrote, produced, and co-directed, Mommy Wildest, was nominated for three Canadian Screen Awards: The Rob Stewart Award for Best Science or Nature Documentary, Best Documentary Editing, and Best Documentary Cinematography, and premiered on CBC’s The Nature of Things. She was honoured by Hot Docs as one of 2016's top emerging producers.

Her writing has been published in CineAction, CameraStylo, and appears in the British Film Institute. Her work is part of the film curricula at The Emily Carr University of Art and Design and the National Autonomous University of Mexico.​
